Butterflies, wasps, spiders and creepy crawlies for you to photograph.

At this time of the year, late summer / early spring the insects here at Bird Island Lodge are truly awesome.

Come and enjoy the outdoors in a very unique setting where the hustle and bustle of city life is seen as a strange unknown thing. Life here on the Nibela Peninsula of lake St. Lucia, on the out skirts of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park is truly laid back and rather rustic.

At Bird Island Lodge the birds wake you up in the morning with their singing and celebrating the beauty of a new day.   Come and pay us a visit to experience true outdoor Bliss and relax around the swimming pool after a morning walk to watch the sun rise over the Eastern Shores of lake St. Lucia, while listening to the forest wake up and breath new happiness into the air. Or just chill and enjoy the sounds of nature.

The lodge has six rooms, with twin or double beds, 5 toilet / showers a seperate kitchen, a swimming pool, a braai area and views of eastern shores as well as  bird Island from the swimming pool deck or upstairs chill zone

If you would rather go camping, there are secluded campsites with neat ablutions just 200 meters in the bush. Bring your own tent and cooking stuff, and remember to bring your camera, coz the butterflies, spiders and other insects enjoy posing for their pics to be taken.

Campsite ablutions has two toilet / showers, with an old fashioned donkey for hot water.  Max 8 campers at any time, so that your stay will be relaxed and special.

Camp sites have no electricity or running water, but the ablution block is right close. Camp site has its own deck hidden away and truly peaceful views of bird Island
