why would you want to come to Nibela ?

Greetings from Nibela Peninsula on the shores of Lake St. Lucia between eastern Shores on the east side and False bay on the west side.

Crested Guini Fowl at Bird Island Lodge

So back to the question of why you should consider paying us a visit and relaxing in some awesome  unspoiled locations on the Nibela Peninsula, or perhaps some nearby bucket list attractions / locations like the Hluhluwe park, the Umfolozi park, Sodwana Bay, False Bay, St. Lucia, Kozi Bay, Bona Manzi bird hide or nearby summer water pans.

Then there are the Flamingos, Pelicans and other water birds at the Mkhze swamps on the North East side or HluHluwe river on the North west side...,   Lots of real great birding opportunities, and we have an in house bird guide, Sfiso Mdluli.  More about him in future posts once I have got to know him a bit better, and been around the district with him.  Sfiso is the local Indunas son, and we have a great working relationship, but new folks take some time to settle in and get into the businesses own rhythm.

and NEVER FORGET the BUTTERFLYS at Nibela... there are so many different species here in the summer months that ones head starts to spin..... trying to ID them is a rather time consuming and labour intensive task, but we are getting there slowly.  Still need some books here at the lodge covering birds, plants, insects and other living things here at Nibela.  every day is a surprise with some or other new experience.

The owls come around occasionally at night,  and that strange fella that catches bats has been seen a few times, but he is real fast, and rather difficult to see with the eye.  So why come pay us a visit?  of course to relax, enjoy nature, and experience the treasures of the African out doors as only done in #ZULULAND
